Graves, Michael
(n. 9 jul. 1934, Indianápolis, Ind., EE.UU.).

Arquitecto y diseñador estadounidense. Estudió en la Universidad de Harvard y en 1962 comenzó una larga carrera docente en la Universidad de Princeton al tiempo que diseñaba casas particulares en el estilo abstracto y austero del modernismo ortodoxo. A finales de 1970 rechazó la expresión modernista y comenzó a buscar un vocabulario posmodernista más rico. Las voluminosas masas del edificio Portland, en Portland, Ore. (1980), y del edificio Humana, en Louisville, Ky. (1982), muestran su personal interpretación cubista de elementos clásicos como las columnatas y las logias. Aunque considerados un tanto faltos de gracia, estos y sus posteriores edificios (p. ej., el Indianapolis Art Center, 1996) han sido aclamados por su interpretación irónica de las formas tradicionales. Entre sus últimos proyectos están la restauración del monumento a Washington (2000) y la creación de una línea de artículos domésticos, que incluye artículos de cocina y muebles, para la tienda de descuento Target.
